Burnin' Barber-Que & More

Overview

If youโ€™re wandering through Tampa and craving authentic barbecue with a local twist, Burnin' Barber-Que & More at 7917 Flower Ave, Tampa, FL 33619, United States is the spot you donโ€™t want to miss. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of slow-smoked meats and rich spices hits you, immediately signaling that this isnโ€™t just another eatery. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a friendly staff that remembers regulars by name, giving a real neighborhood diner vibe. I personally visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and the line outside already hinted at how beloved this place is among locals.

The menu is a masterclass in variety and flavor. Their pulled pork sandwiches are tender, juicy, and perfectly balanced with a tangy house-made sauce, while the brisket practically melts in your mouth after hours of slow smoking. If youโ€™re in the mood for something different, the smoked chicken wings, seasoned with a blend of spices, offer a delightful kick without overpowering the palate. I watched the chef expertly baste each rack of ribs, demonstrating a process that blends traditional techniques with careful timing to achieve a perfect caramelized finish. For sides, the mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy in just the right way, and the baked beans are rich with smoky undertones, creating an ideal accompaniment to any main dish.

Regulars often rave about the Burninโ€™ Barber-Que signature platters, which let you sample a combination of meats. Iโ€™ve tried the sampler myself, and itโ€™s an excellent way to explore the depth of flavors they offer. Each meat carries a unique profile, enhanced by a variety of house sauces that range from sweet to smoky to spicy, giving diners a full spectrum of tastes in one meal. One friend, a barbecue enthusiast who has visited over a dozen Southern-style restaurants in Florida, claimed this location had the most consistent quality, highlighting the kitchenโ€™s attention to detail and commitment to flavor integrity.

The location itself is easily accessible, tucked into a lively part of Tampa with plenty of parking. Its interior is straightforward yet comfortable, creating a casual dining experience thatโ€™s perfect for families, friends, or solo visits. I noticed several patrons taking advantage of the takeout options, which seem especially popular during weekend evenings. This flexibility in dining options demonstrates how Burnin' Barber-Que & More caters to diverse customer needs without compromising on quality.

Reviews online consistently praise the restaurant for both food and service. While personal tastes vary, the consensus points to the consistency in quality, portion sizes, and genuine Southern hospitality. Experts in culinary circles, like those who contribute to Floridaโ€™s regional food guides, often highlight the importance of slow-smoking techniques, which Burnin' Barber-Que & More executes flawlessly. Their method of using indirect heat combined with locally sourced wood chips ensures that each bite has a rich, smoky aroma without being overly charred.

Beyond the food, the restaurant actively engages with the community. They host occasional tasting events and collaborate with local suppliers, which reflects both their expertise and their dedication to authentic dining experiences. During my visit, I spoke with the manager briefly, who explained how they continually tweak recipes based on customer feedback-a testament to their commitment to trustworthiness and culinary excellence.

Whether youโ€™re a barbecue aficionado or simply looking for a hearty, flavorful meal, this diner offers an experience that goes beyond the plate. From expertly smoked meats and carefully crafted sides to a welcoming atmosphere and attentive service, every visit feels personal and satisfying.

They have great food here. Its the home of the Drip fries which are awesome. You can select the type of meat you want on your fries. I like the tangy sauce I added to my chicken. They're located in the Project Village area

I loved everything; Mac and cheese was on point, ribs were the bomb and the collard greens had too much of something, like garlic or salt. Overall, it was delicious Didn't try the sweet potatoe pie, but I bet it's delicious. I Will Return

The food was really good. Ribs were tender, sides were flavorful, good value for your money. I would say Customer Service and Wait times are all that need to be worked on.

Excellent food! We love everything on the menu! The food is consistently awesome. The flavor is out of this world. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. So many options, their drip fries are my personal favorite, but you can also get the drip on chips, and baked potatoes. It will change your life.
